Missing In Action Films was founded by Mia Bays in March 2003 and became a full time feature and short film production company and distribution and marketing consultancy in October 2003.
Mia Bays has over 17 years sales, marketing and distribution experience, having held positions at Mainline Pictures/Screen Cinemas, Mayfair Entertainment International, Granada Film and The Film Consortium (as Head of Distribution for the 6 year term), and has worked with directors as wide ranging as Ang Lee, Shekhar Kapur, Richard Loncraine, Gillies Mackinnon and Michael Winterbottom, working on over 35 features.

Produced with Kenton Allen and Fantastic Films in Dublin. The film debut of acclaimed playwright Martin McDonagh, it has won over 7 international awards including a 2006 Academy Award and a BIFA Award and was nominated for a 2005 BAFTA.
EX MEMORIA
EX MEMORIA won £80,000 prize fund from the Wellcome Trust SciArt awards and was the only film selected that year. Written and directed by Josh Appignanesi (SONG OF SONGS) and starring Sara Kestleman and Natalie Press, the film debuted at the Kodak Short Film Showcase at BAFTA on June 26 2006, and has competed at 2006 Edinburgh, Montreal, Melbourne and Raindance, Hamptons, Foyle, Brief Encounters, and Bilbao Zinebi Film Festivals.
Directed by Stephen Kijak, about the incredible influence and originality of the musician Scott Walker, exec produced by David Bowie and featuring Radiohead, Sting, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker, Marc Almond, Dot Allison, Brian Eno, and Allison Goldfrapp. The film premiered at the 2006 London Film Festival and was theatrically released in the UK via Verve Pictures, Madman in Australia and Avalon in Spain. U.S and Canada releases to be announced in Spring 2008.
Mia was nominated for the Carl Foreman award for producing the film at the BAFTA Awards 2008 - for Best Debut by a Writer, Director or Producer
Involved since June 2005, Mia was responsible for pushing the film at the Edinburgh and Toronto Film Festivals and was key in the sales process, as well as the servicing and follow up of all international releases. The film won a 2006 Academy Award, Audience Awards at Edinburgh, Toronto, Denver Festivals, a Golden Globe nomination, and the Michael Powell Award at Edinburgh. Miramax released in the U.S Feb 26 2006 and Momentum in the UK on March 17 2006.
BLINDSIGHT is the inspiring new documentary feature by Lucy Walker (the award winning DEVILS PLAYGROUND) produced by Sybil Robson Orr and Steven Haft, to premiere Fall 2006. It screened at at Toronto and London 2006 Film Festivals and won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at AFI 2006, as well as being shortlisted for a 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Mia Bays was picked as a Star of Tomorrow in Screen International’s issue about UK talent to watch in 2005, and was celebrated as a ‘Breakthrough Brit’ at the UKFC/Women in Film lunch in November in Los Angeles.
